“When will it be done?” forecaster

Forecast a finish date from your team’s actual weekly throughput — a range and Monte Carlo probabilities instead of a single guessed date. Nothing you enter is saved.

Use at least 3 weeks; 8–12 is better. Commas or spaces.

Based on 10,000 simulated futures drawn from your past weeks.

How it works

  • Simple range: items left ÷ your slowest and fastest recent weeks.
  • Monte Carlo: 10,000 simulated futures, each drawing random weeks from your history until the work is done; the 50%, 85% and 95% points of those results are your forecast. The simulation is seeded, so the same inputs give the same answer.

How to read it

Forecasting from throughput works best when items are reasonably small and similar in size and the remaining scope is tracked honestly. It assumes the near future resembles the recent past — update it as new weeks come in, and treat big changes to the team or the work with caution.
